Amy is a partner in the Birmingham office, where she focuses her practice on real estate litigation with a particular interest in title insurance coverage and curative issues. She is also experienced in representing title insurers in litigated and non-litigated matters. Amy has experience with various areas of commercial litigation, including representing financial institutions, manufacturers and hotels. Amy has been recognized as a “Rising Star” by SuperLawyers in business litigation and banking law. Amy maintained an AV-Preeminent Judicial Edition rating by Martindale-Hubbell. She regularly presents seminars on title insurance law in Alabama.
Edgar is a lifelong resident of the Shoals and is the son of one of the firm’s founders, Marcel Black. Edgar received a degree in English from the University of Alabama, and attended law school at Cumberland School of Law. Edgar is also a graduate of Leadership Shoals and the Alabama State Bar’s Leadership Forum.
Patrick Glaze is the Assistant To The Special Agent-in-Charge of the U.S. Secret Service’s Birmingham Field Office, where he directs the agency’s criminal investigations for the Northern District of Alabama. ATSAIC Glaze’s Secret Service career began in Los Angeles before spending ten years in Washington D.C., where he was assigned to the Washington Field Office, the Counter Assault Team (CAT), and the Presidential Protective Division (PPD). ATSAIC Glaze is a 2004 graduate of the University of Alabama School of Law. Prior to joining the Secret Service, he was an Assistant District Attorney for Tuscaloosa County, AL. He resides in Birmingham with his wife and four children.
Theo Goodin is a Senior Market Conduct Examiner for the Alabama Department of Insurance. He is also the State Chair for the Insurance Regulatory Examination Society (IRES) of Alabama. He has over 24 years of experience in insurance regulation and market oversight. He holds the AIE (Accredited Insurance Examiner) designation, which he has maintained for the past 10 years, as well as the MCM (Market Conduct Manager) designation for 18 years, demonstrating his long-standing commitment to professional excellence and industry best practices.
A graduate of Auburn University at Montgomery, Theo earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with a concentration in Management of Information Systems, blending strategic business knowledge with technical expertise. This dual perspective equips him to analyze complex regulatory issues with precision and insight.
Throughout his career, Theo has led numerous high-impact examinations, promoting compliance, transparency, and consumer protection in the insurance marketplace. Known for his integrity, attention to detail, and collaborative approach, he works closely with insurers, regulators, and industry partners to elevate standards and support ethical conduct across the sector.
As State Chair of IRES in Alabama, he is also a strong advocate for regulatory education and peer development, helping to mentor and empower the next generation of insurance examiners.
Join us for an in-depth exploration of complex financial crimes, with a particular focus on wire fraud and seller’s frauds from the Federal Law enforcement perspective. This presentation will provide professionals with insights into the intricacies of these crimes, including their methodologies, and common schemes. By the end of this session, attendees will have gained a deeper understanding of the detection, prevention, and legal ramifications of wire fraud and seller fraud, equipping them with the knowledge necessary to navigate these complex issues in their legal practice.
