Prohibition of Foreign Government Land Purchases
House Bill 379, signed by Governor Ivey May 31st, 2023, is designed to prevent Alabama’s agricultural resources, or lands surrounding critical resources and military installations from being bought by foreign governments or their proxies. This narrowly tailored bill is designed to prevent sales of vital real estate resources to “Foreign Principles.” These foreign principles are strictly defined as foreign governments, foreign government officials, foreign political parties and their party members.
