Member Highlight – Agent: Kathy W. Shirah

Kathy started her career in mortgage banking in 1990 with First Alabama Bank which later became Regions Mortgage, Incorporated. She has worked in various functions of the mortgage banking industry throughout her career, which includes loan processing, underwriting, closing, appraisal review, shipping, title insurance review, accounting, and marketing departments. During her career at Regions Mortgage, Inc. she received two Certificates of Accreditation from Mortgage Bankers of America as an Accredited Mortgage Banker. Kathy joined Central Alabama Title Center in May of 2003 as an underwriter. She is licensed to write Title Insurance in the states of Alabama and Mississippi. In 2005 she became the first Certified Commercial Underwriter for Central Alabama Title. For the past 18 years, she has served as an instructor at the Alabama Banking School. Kathy was promoted to Chief Manager in June 2021, and she currently serves as the Secretary for the Land Title Association of Alabama.

She is the creator and founder of Living Money $mart which is an all-volunteer financial education program taught to junior high and high school students throughout the state; where students “live a day in the life of an adult” and are responsible for the family finances.

In her spare time, Kathy volunteers with Lazy W Ranch in Pike Road, AL, and the Alabama Cattlemen’s Association – Miracle Rodeo in Montgomery, AL, where children with all types of disabilities are introduced to the “Cowboy Way of Life.” Kathy is also on the Board of the organization of Fred’s Kids, which is an organization that teaches the word of God along with providing an education and food to orphans in Kenya. Kathy and her husband are very active in their local church and lead several bible studies each week as an outreach program to reach the unchurched in their community.

Kathy has been married to her husband, Danny for 32 years and she has wonderful two sons Hunter and Tyler, two beautiful daughters-in-love, Kristine and Mallory, and 2 amazing grandchildren, Easton and Ellie who are 2 years old.
