Termination of the Pre-Licensing Course

House Bill 60, approved on May 3, 2023, concerns the Alabama Department of Insurance, and more specifically, licenses for those dealing in insurance. It removes the requirement for insurance producers, adjusters, and title insurance agents to complete a 20-hour pre-licensing course of study before they can be licensed. However, they must still successfully pass the examinations provided for their lines of authority. Additionally, it provides that no new licenses for service representatives shall be issued by the commissioner of the Department of Insurance, but that anyone already holding such a license will be allowed to renew their license unless they allow it to expire for a period of 12 months.
