A Letter from your LTAAL President
By Lauren Malbrough, David P. Condon, P.C., President of Land Title Association of Alabama
The Land Title Association of Alabama (LTAAL) Mid-Winter Conference, held on February 16, 2026, at the beautiful Renaissance Shoals Resort & Spa in Florence, Alabama, was an outstanding success and a truly valuable gathering for our industry.

This one-day event brought together a strong turnout of professionals from North Alabama. It was wonderful to reconnect in person with so many familiar faces and to meet new colleagues in our field— the collaborative discussions in the room reminded us of the strength of our community.

The educational program was highly relevant to the challenges and opportunities we face today. Highlights included an insightful FinCEN update from Edgar Black, which provided timely clarity on the new reporting requirements. We also heard thought-provoking discussions on the transformative role of AI in our industry, including ethical considerations, and a practical session on combatting fraud featuring expertise from the U.S. Secret Service. Judge Barger provided so much insight on the current challenges and successes of our probate offices. His success in bringing the Madison County Probate Office light years ahead in proficiency and technology really impressed us all. He accomplished all of this at a time when his county truly exploded in growth. Senator Givhan educated us about proposed legislation being put forward in Montgomery currently. Call your representative and use your voice to support all Senator Givhan is doing to for the real estate industry across our state.

Adding to the day’s enjoyment was the delicious food which provided good opportunities for informal networking and conversation.
Overall, the conference reinforced the importance of staying connected through LTAAL and continuing to adapt together in this evolving landscape. Thank you to the LTAAL board, speakers, sponsors, and staff for putting on such a worthwhile event. I’m already looking forward to the next one!
Best regards,
Lauren Malbrough
