Legislative Update: April 21-25, 2025

During the week of April 21–25, 2025, a total of 27 new bills were introduced in the Alabama Legislature.
To date, the House has introduced 616 bills and the Senate has introduced 346 bills.

We are now 23 legislative days into the 2025 Regular Session, with a maximum of 30 legislative days allowed.

Below is an update on the status of specific bills we have been tracking, particularly those affecting real estate, probate, and title insurance operations across Alabama.

House Bills:

  • HB300 (Choctaw County – Probate Court Filing Fees) – Enacted.
  • HB348 (Russell County – Probate Recording Fee Update) – Signature Requested.
  • HB428 (Houston County – Tax Sale and Redemption Procedures) – Enacted.
  • HB539 (Randolph County – Special Transaction Fee for Probate/Commission) – Read for the Second Time and placed on the Calendar.
  • HB545 (Escambia County – Probate Court Fees Adjustment) – Pending Committee Action in House of Origin.

Senate Bills:

  • SB106 (Small Estates – Increased Threshold for Summary Distribution) – No further action listed.
  • SB240 (Coffee County – Qualifications for Judge of Probate) – No further action listed.
  • SB329 (Lee County – Revenue Commissioner Authority for Tax Sales) – No further action listed.
